The Italian MVNO is leveraging BICS’ managed voice service and anti-fraud technology to ensure high-quality, high-security international calls for its subscribers.
Brussels – 18 September 2025 – CoopVoce, one of Italy’s leading mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs), has announced a new partnership with international communications enabler BICS, a Proximus Global Company, to manage and enhance its international voice services. Through this agreement, BICS will serve as CoopVoce’s partner for international voice traffic, ensuring premium quality and protection against fraud, while maintaining a real-time view of traffic.
Owned by Coop Italia, the national consumers’ cooperative chain in Italy, CoopVoce was the first MVNO to launch in Italy, upgrading to ‘full MVNO status’ in 2019 to gain flexibility and control over its mobile services. Today, it operates independently while leveraging the infrastructure of major Italian networks to deliver reliable, transparent, and high-quality mobile services.
Gabriele Tubertini, Director of Investee Activities Coop Italia, CoopVoce says: “As an MVNO, it’s crucial for us to maintain full control over the experience we offer our customers while operating efficiently. We chose BICS not only for the quality of its global voice network, but for its premium, managed approach. BICS gives us that one-stop shop for voice management, fraud protection, and service transparency – all on a global scale.”
This partnership with BICS is another example of CoopVoce leveraging flexible network models to drive operational efficiency and deliver high-quality service to its customers. BICS will manage CoopVoce’s outbound international voice traffic as part of its Voice Managed Service, optimizing cost and quality while simplifying operational complexity. In addition, BICS’ FraudGuard solution will protect CoopVoce and its customers from international voice fraud in real-time – a constant threat across the telecoms industry.
Jorn Vercamert, Chief Product Officer, Proximus Global and Managing Director, BICS adds: “MVNOs like CoopVoce are proving that you don’t need to own infrastructure to deliver excellent service. It’s a similar story with international voice; operators can avoid the complexity of managing global traffic, quality standards, and security, while still ensuring every call is cost-effective, secure, and high quality. Through this collaboration, CoopVoce can focus on strategic initiatives while maintaining confidence and visibility over its international voice services.”
With this agreement, CoopVoce gains access to BICS’ extensive global footprint, intelligent traffic routing, and real-time protection against fraudulent activity – all without the need to invest in complex infrastructure. CoopVoce will also use MyBICS, BICS’ web-based customer portal, to monitor and manage its traffic, ensuring transparency and responsiveness in how its voice services are delivered globally.
